Ysgol newydd ddwyieithog Gymraeg-Sbaeneg yn yr Andes yw Ysgol y Cwm. Yma yw’r beth maen nhw wedi gwneud dros dymor y gwanwyn…
Ysgol y Cwm is a new bilingual Welsh-Spanish school in the Andes, Patagonia. Here is what they have been doing over the spring term…
Mae’r tywydd yn poethi ac mae Sion Corn ar ei ffordd, a chyn hir bydd y gwyliau haf wedi cyrraedd gan ddod a terfyn i dymor arall yn Ysgol y Cwm. Mae hi wedi bod yn flwyddyn brysur ond hefyd yn un llwyddiannus iawn, gyda´r plant yn ffynnu wrth iddynt gymryd rhan mewn seremonïau, digwyddiadau ac eisteddfodau di-ri. Rydym yn edrych ymlaen yn barod at y tymor nesaf ym mis Mawrth 2018, pan fyddwn yn croesawu rhagor o ddisgyblion – bydd hyn yn golygu y bydd dros 90 o blant yn mynychu Ysgol y Cwm. | The weather is warming and it’s almost the summer holidays, which means that Father Christmas is coming, along with the end of another term. It’s been a busy but successful year for the school and it’s been wonderful seeing the children flourish over the year as they participated in a variety of ceremonies, events and eisteddfodau. We’re already looking forward to the start of the new term in March 2018, by which time the school will have more than 90 pupils. |
Croesawom y gwanwyn nol ym mis Medi gyda ffiesta lliwgar ym Mhlasa Fontana yng nghanol y dref, gyda´r plant yn dod at ei gilydd gydag ysgolion eraill i baentio blodau lliwgar ar y strydoedd o gwmpas y sgwâr. Wedi gaeaf hir, oer, roedd pawb yn edrych ymlaen at gael mynd ar y tripiau ysgol. Cawsom gyfle i ymweld â fferm bysgod Nant Fach ar gyrion Trevelin, ac roedd cael gweld sut yr oedd y brithyll yn cael eu magu yn brofiad newydd sbon i ddisgyblion blwyddyn 1. | The start of spring was welcomed with a colourful fiesta, when the children of Ysgol y Cwm got together with other schools to decorate Trevelin’s central plaza with giant paintings of wildflowers. After a long, cold, winter everyone was looking forward to spring and, in particular, the return of school trips. The first trip of the spring was a day out at the Nant Fach fish farm on the outskirts of Trevelin, and it didn’t disappoint - the children of Year 1 were enthralled to see the various stages of trout farming! |
Gyda Medi’n dod i ben cawsom ymweliad gan ein ffrindiau o Goleg Camwy draw yn y Gaiman. Daw criw o Goleg Camwy draw i’r Andes bob blwyddyn, ac eleni fe gawsom sioe bypedau ganddynt- Y Tri Mochyn Bach. Roedd y sioe yn wych, ac roedd y plant a’r athrawon wrth eu boddau- bu llawer iawn o weiddi a chwerthin! Wedi’r sioe bypedau, fe berfformiodd y criw ddawns werin Gymreig, ynghyd a dawns y Chacarera. | Towards the end of September we received a visit from our friends in Coleg Camwy, Gaiman. Every year, the college arranges a trip over to the Andes and this year they treated us to a puppet show- The Three Little Pigs. It was a fantastic show, with children and teachers alike roaring with laughter! After the puppet show, the college performed a Welsh Dawns Werin, as well as a traditional Chacarera dance. |
Ar Hydref y 12fed bûm yn dathlu Diwrnod Amrywiaeth Diwylliannol. Roedd y plant wedi dod ag eitemau mewn i’w harddangos fel rhan o’r dathliadau - roedd y rhain yn cynnwys het sombrero o Fecsico, Cilt lliwgar o’r Alban, blanced frodorol o’r Ariannin ynghyd a gwisg draddodiadol Gymreig. Cafodd y plant hefyd gyfle ddysgu pob mathau o ganeuon o wledydd eraill, fel De Affrica a Siapan, gyda Maria, yr athrawes gerdd. | On the 12th of October we celebrated Cultural Diversity Day. The children had brought in various items from different cultures all over the world, including a Mexican sombrero, a Scottish kilt, as well as an indigenous Argentine blanket and, of course, a traditional Welsh dress. There was also an opportunity to sing songs from other countries, such as Japan and South Africa, with the music teacher, Maria. |
Bu rhagor o ganu yn ystod ymweliad criw'r Urdd. Mae criw o bobl ifanc yn dod draw o Gymru gyda’r Urdd bob blwyddyn, ac fe fuon nhw draw yn Ysol y Cwm yn ein diddanu gyda straeon a chaneuon. Roedd y criw hefyd wedi dod a llawer iawn o lyfrau, defnyddiau ysgrifennu a theganau gyda hwy, ac roedd un ohonynt, sef Elen Haf Roach, hefyd wedi llwyddo i godi £200 i’r ysgol, felly diolch yn fawr iawn i griw'r Urdd! Bu’r criw hefyd yn ymweld â’r dyffryn, ble buont yn cymryd rhan yn Eisteddfod y Wladfa. | There was more singing at the school during this year’s Urdd visit. Each year a group of young people come to Patagonia with the Urdd Organisation, to visit the Welsh communities. During their time at Ysgol y Cwm, they entertained the children with songs and stories. They had also brought with them a heap of books, stationery and toys, and one of the group, Elen Haf Roach, had succeeded in raising £200 for the school, so a big ‘diolch yn fawr iawn’ to the Urdd gang! The group also visited Gaiman and Trelew, where they took part in the Chubut Eisteddfod. |
Roedd yr Eisteddfod arbennig iawn i un o athrawon yr ysgol, sef Jessica Jones, am ei bod wedi ennill medel Dysgwr y Flwyddyn 2017. Rhoddwyd y wobr eleni fel rhan o ddathliadau 20 mlynedd o’r Cynllun Dysgu Cymraeg yn y Wladfa, ac roedd canmoliaeth fawr i Jessica am ei holl waith gydag Ysgol Gymraeg yr Andes, y criw dawnsio gwerin ac Ysgol y Cwm dros y blynyddoedd. Llongyfarchiadau Jessica! Yn 2018 bydd y Cynllun yn croesawu athro newydd i’r Andes, sef Emyr Evans – mae pawb yn Ysgol y Cwm yn edrych ymlaen at ei groesawu! | The Eisteddfod was particularly special for one of Ysgol y Cwm’s teachers, Jessica Jones, who was awarded the Welsh Learner of the Year Medal. This year’s prize was awarded as part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Welsh Language Project in Patagonia. Jessica was praised for all of her hard work with Ysgol Gymraeg yr Andes, the Dawnsio Gwerin group as well as Ysgol y Cwm. Llongyfarchiadau Jessica! In 2018 the Project will welcome a new teacher to the Andes, Emyr Evans. Everyone at Ysgol y Cwm is looking forward to working with him! |
Dechreuodd mis Tachwedd gydag ymweliad gan yr artist tecstiliau Cefyn Burgess, a ddaeth gyda offer arlunio i’r plant yn anrheg – diolch Cefyn! Ar y 10fed o Dachwedd bûm yn dathlu Diwrnod y Traddodiadau. Roedd yn ddiwrnod bendigedig, gyda chyfle i’r plant a’r rhieni fwynhau eu hunain gydag adloniant a digwyddiadau awyr-agored Archentaidd, ar fferm Margarita a Charlie. Cafodd y plant hefyd gyfle i wneud ffrindiau a phlant o ysgolion eraill mewn diwrnod chwaraeon yn ysgol y Parc Cenedlaethol. Da ydi’r haf! Yn fwy diweddar bu’r Ysgol hefyd yn cymryd rhan yn yr orymdaith i ddathlu pen-blwydd y dref. | November began with a visit from the textile artist, Cefyn Burgess, who brought a gift of painting materials for the children – diolch Cefyn! On the 10th we celebrated the Day of the Traditions, with a day out for the teachers, the children and their families at the farm of Margarita and Charlie. It was a wonderful day, giving the children and their parents an opportunity to enjoy themselves on Margarita and Charlie’s farm with entertainments and Argentinian outdoor activities. Later on the children also had the opportunity to make friends with children from other schools in a sports day held at the National Park school. At the end of November we also took part in the parade to celebrate Trevelin’s birthday. |
Mae’r gwaith o adeiladu’r dosbarthiadau newydd wedi dod yn ei flaen dros y misoedd diwethaf. Nol ym mis Hydref fe osodwyd y sylfaen goncrit, ac erbyn hyn mae´r waliau allanol a’r stafelloedd mewnol i gyd wedi eu hadeiladu, a chyn hir, fe fydd yn amser codi’r to. Y gobaith ydy cael y dosbarthiadau newydd yn barod erbyn i’r tymor newydd gychwyn ym mis Mawrth 2018, ac ar hyn bryd mae pethe’n edrych yn gadarnhaol. | The building work on the new classrooms has continued steadily over the past few months. The concrete foundation was laid in October, and by now the external walls as well as the internal classroom walls have been erected, and before long it will be time to put the roof up. The hope is that the new classrooms will be ready by the start of the new term in March 2018, and as of now things are looking positive |
Fel arfer, mae’r ysgol wedi bod yn brysur yn ceisio codi arian er mwyn sicrhau bod cyflogau’n cael eu talu, a bod popeth yn rhedeg yn llyfn! Dros y misoedd diwethaf, cynhaliwyd dwy ffair ddillad, arwerthiant canelonis, arwerthiant cyw iâr a salad, a digwyddiad mate bingo. Mae’r ysgol hefyd wedi croesawu masgot newydd sydd ar gael i’w brynu fel swfenîr yn yr ysgol, ac wedi meddwl yn ofalus fe benderfynodd y plant ar yr enw Sdormi. Felly croeso Sdormi! Trwy gydol y flwyddyn rydym wedi llwyddo i godi dros ARG$80,000 (£4000), arian sy’n hanfodol i’n galluogi i barhau i weithredu. Ar ben yr arian hyn, mae’r ysgol yr un mor ddibynnol ag erioed ar y rhoddion sy’n dod gan ein ffrindiau acw yng Nghymru, ac rydym yn ddiolchgar dros ben i bawb sydd yn cyfrannu. | As per usual, Ysgol y Cwm has been busy with its continual fundraising efforts, in order to make sure that wages are paid, and that the school runs as smoothly as possible! Over the past few months, the school has held two clothes fairs, a cannelloni sale, two chicken and salad stands at different events, as well as a mate bingo event. We also have a new mascot, which can be bought as a souvenir from the school. After careful deliberation, the children decided on Sdormi as a name. So, welcome Sdormi! Over the course of the year the school has managed to raise over ARG$80,000 (£4000), essential funds which keep the school going from day-to-day. On top of this, we also receive donations from our friends in Wales- we are as dependent as ever on this income, and we are extremely grateful to all of those who contribute. |
